Choosing to home educate is gaining popularity. There are many resources available that can help you learn more about the process. Homeschooling is legal in all 50 states, but the laws vary widely, from giving you complete freedom and autonomy in your home, to requiring district registration, record-keeping and annual testing. Most of these challenges can be met easily by scouting around for a homeschooling group that meets in your area to offer support, group learning activities and social events. Many homeschool group members support each other through frequent e-mail correspondence, as well. Some groups are based on a common background, such as religious affiliation or style of living, but most come together for geographic convenience, providing a variety of backgrounds and interests within the group.

Homeschooling cost will vary from state to state, largely depending on how you gather your resources, and whether you use a fully packaged curriculum for every subject, for only certain ones, or choose to create it all on your own.
