How does the tool work?
In our house we have one child with ADHD, and two without, but this tool works for all of our children.
We use a dry erase board, sectioned off with a column for each weekday and a row for each child. Then we list special school classes or events in the day that they occur. Like for gym day, they need comfortable clothes and gym shoes, so that is marked for each child. Library day as a reminder to return books, etc. We don't list classes that are done on an everyday basis, but when our two oldest go to junior high, we will list the classes that they have on different days at that time.
What is the benefit to the user?
It is effective for organization, planning, and to memorize the proper planning needed for those classes. All of our children use this system and since starting it three years ago, rarely do they miss being ready for those special week day classes or things like Library. It also puts the responsibility back to the child for preparation of those classes.
Other information to consider:
During the summer, when there is no school, we use this for special activities, reminders, and chores.
