What's the capital of Hungary?
If you're not sure, this activity provides a great opportunity to find out.
Unfold a map, or open an atlas or another geography resource. Then, while you list off capitals, ask your child to name their states or countries. Or you can name states or countries, and ask your child for the capitals. When your child misses an answer, hand over the resource. It's your turn to guess.
Alternatively, you can list three contiguous capitals of cities, states, or countries. Your child then has to figure out which one is in the middle. Or for a greater challenge, you can provide capital riddles. For example, you can name three states or countries, and ask your child to select the one with a capital that begins with the letter B, that has three syllables, or that rhymes with "quest."
So, with the help of your child, were you able to figure out the capital of Hungary? Here's a hint: part of it rhymes with "quest." Still having trouble? It's Budapest, and it's officially your child's turn to guess the capitals.
