Evaluate Your School's Internet Resources

by Tom Price

Is your child's school getting the most its use of the Internet?

Here are seven trouble spots to look for

  • Is your child's school linked to the Internet? How many connected computers are in the classroom?

  • How much time does your child spend online at school?

  • Is he learning online research methods and how to evaluate information he finds online?

  • Do teachers use Internet access to bring up-to-date information into the classroom?

  • Are teachers receiving training on using the Internet in class? Do they get time to study and develop teaching plans? How is the school's curriculum changing because of new technology?

  • Do teachers communicate with students and parents with Email?

  • Can my child access the school's computer resources remotely from home?
