Homework Tips for the Child with Learning Disabilities

by Sandra Jones

Children with learning disabilities (LD) do better with a structured time for homework. Here are some hints to help ease those homework frustrations.

  • Agree on homework time.

  • Set up a specific place for your child to do homework.

  • Don't let homework time become a power struggle between you and your child.

  • Ask for homework modifications such as doing the odd or even numbered problems on a math sheet.

  • Help your child organize his work before he begins.
