Can Higher Grades Ensure Higher Financial Aid?
Question: I got a 26 on my ACT, but was ranked in the lower half of my class. I am attending Northwest Missouri State University on loans. Can I get more financial aid next trimester (or year) if I get higher grades? I would rather not continue taking out large loans, if possible.
Answer: I would recommend working closely with the financial-aid officer at your school to explore the options that are available to you. You should research scholarships offered in the area that you plan to study. Some scholarship web sites that might help are fastweb.com, and studentservices.com.
Another idea would be determining if there are any work-study or co-op options that may provide assistance in financing your education.
