How to Become a Real-Estate Appraiser

College/Career Expert Advice from Carol Carter

Question: I am interested in becoming a real-estate appraiser. Can you tell me what this would involve?

Answer: If you are interested in becoming a real-estate appraiser, check into the programs at schools you are interested in. The office that's in charge of real estate is usually in the business school. However, some schools only have continuing education programs that deal specifically with appraising. They will be able to tell you whether or not they have night classes and how many hours you'll need to get your degree. There is also a national accreditation agency for realtors. Call any real estate office in your town to get additional information from them.
